RED FORT

An Inca site as you can tell from the masonry and shoddy clay fill. However tucked along these Incan ruins are the remains of an older site. This sits above Cusco on the hillside above Sacsayhauman and Labyrinth of Q’enqo. Once you see the door frame and the North side of the structure you see the old megalithic work including a door lentil that was repurposed from a wall where two other stone neatly notched into place. There are tool marks here amongst the Spanish stucco addition and the more modern removal, that based on stucco in their gouges possibly predates the Spanish additions. Of course highly speculative without being there in the time of original construction and then more modern repurposing.
