INCA GATE

We then traveled to the Inca gate at the southern border of the Cusco Valley. It is evident that there was an older structure here as well, and a finely constructed aqueduct. the walls have amazing 90 degree cut corners with tool marks on the lower portion showing where the “saw” or tool cut the angle slightly off (thanks to Yousef Awyan for your keen eye on this one). Though the Inca built onto this site with their broken rock and clay masonry style, the distinctly different style of the clean dressed and fitted stone of the gate shows a more sophisticated culture as the original builders.
